Suburban Chicagoland commuter and motorist weblog

Road Week Ahead: February 11 – February 15

Here’s what’s on tap for Lake County commuters this week: Route 120, EJ&E, and (hopefully) less snow.

“What’s Going On?” The Lake County Motorist Calendar, listing events that may be of interest to motorists and commuters, has been added to the blog. Check it out in the sidebar. Clicking an event opens the corresponding Google Calendar entry, allowing you to view details and add the event to your own Google Calendar if you wish.

A Route 120 bypass meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 13 at the Round Lake Police and Public Works facility. Visit for details.

A bipartisan Suburban Transportation Commission Open House is scheduled for Monday, February 11 at Lake Zurich High School. Representatives Melissa Bean and Mark Kirk will be on hand to listen to residents’ feedback on the proposed CN acquisition of the EJ&E line. More details are available at

It’s Auto Show time! Your friends at the Tollway Authority will be there to provide I-PASS assistance and answer any questions.

Illinois DOT construction update report. No updates since last week.

Here’s the Lake County DOT roadwork update report. Work as usual.

Chicago has one, and Highland Park does too: it’s an online pothole reporting form. It’s only to be used for reporting potholes found in the city of Highland Park. I wish more municipalities would set up something like this.

Illinois Tollway construction update: Ongoing work is….ongoing. The daily and ongoing lane closure report lists the details.

Interstate 94 weather report. Only minor snowfalls are expected this week, which is good because we need a break!

And finally, here’s a Wisconsin blogger’s February 6 snowstorm experience: She slept at the office that night.
